Chilean MIners Rescued by Brave Team

Since August 5, 33 Chilean miners have been trapped in complete darkness. A rescue team of 15 miners from all over the country prepared to successfully save these miners who had been trapped in a dark, hot abyss for over two months. Although the rescue would be dangerous, Manuel Gonzalez, the leader of the rescue team, was eager to help when he heard of the situation the miners were in. Gonzalez, who has been in the mining industry for twenty years, was the first man to reach the trapped miners. When he reached the miners, their first reaction was to thank and congratulate him for getting 2,300 feet underground to save them. Once the rescue mission was underway the time it took to get each miner to safety dwindled. Soon enough the miners were brought to safety. Manuel Gonzalez was humble about his great leadership in the rescue, and said "I am just part of a great team." This truely is a heroic story Chile will never forget.
