In Spain, jellyfish have invaded many of their beaches. Many beaches have been closed down due to the invasion. The Mauve Stinger jellyfish injured over fifty people on the beaches of Alicante. The Red Cross was able to treat people on the beach. 700 people were stung on Sunday alone. It is believed that the record number of affected people, which is 4,000, could be broken. Researchers are unsure of the reason there has been such a boom in jellyfish, but have a few theories, such as the decline of natural predators.
